Popular songs from "The Toast of New Orleans" were recorded in 1950 on RCA Red Seal 45 rpm 2 record Box Set, DM-1417 (4 songs). The above recording was most probably (?) a 1950 release. RCA issued a 3Box Set of 45s featuring operatic arias and duets (w/Elaine Malbin, soprano) titled "The Toast of New Orleans. It contained, I believe, six selections. RCA was changing its disc format at this time. We saw some EPs, some 10 inch LPs, and regular LPs in 1950 for Mario Lanza recordings.

That Midnight Kiss & The Toast of New Orleans. Because You're Mine & Serenade. In fact, the only bona fide Lanza hit song performed on the tour was Because You’re Mine -and that was sung exclusively as an encore. Evidently, this luminary assumed that the musical tastes of the two groups were mutually exclusive. Consequently, it remains unclear whether Lanza himself performed these pieces, or, in the case of selections from The Student Prince and The Desert Song, what the actual song titles were.
Mario Lanza (born Alfredo Arnold Cocozza; January 31, 1921 – October 7, 1959) was an American tenor of Italian ancestry, and an actor and Hollywood film star of the late 1940s and the 1950s. Lanza began studying to be a professional singer at the age of 16. After appearing at the Hollywood Bowl in 1947, Lanza signed a seven-year film contract with Louis B. Mayer, the head of Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, who saw his performance and was impressed by his singing. A year later, in The Toast of New Orleans, his featured popular song "Be My Love" became his first million-selling hit. In 1951, he played the role of tenor Enrico Caruso, his idol, in the biopic The Great Caruso, which produced another million-seller with "The Loveliest Night of the Year" (a song which used the melody of Sobre las Olas). Operatic Arias & Duets has been added to your Cart. In the early '50s, the 78 rpm recording of the lovely duet from Bizet's Pearl Fishers sung by Jussi Björling and Robert Merrill, colleagues at the Metropolitan Opera New York, became a huge seller, introducing two of the finest voices of their generation over the airwaves.
