Rock & Roll Is Good for You: The Fieger/Averre Demos is an album by The Knack which was released on September 11, 2012. It includes demo recordings made by Doug Fieger and Berton Averre made between 1973 and 1975. Most of the songs are performed by just Fieger and Averre, both singing and playing guitar, but some songs include the full band. Two of the songs, "Good Girls Don't" and "That's What the Little Girls Do," were released in more polished form on the Knack's debut album, Get the Knack.

For Rock & Roll Is Good for You, Omnivore digs deep into the vaults of the Knack and finds the demos Doug Fieger and Berton Averre recorded between 1973 and 1975, many years before their debut, Get the Knack, appeared. Fieger and Averre didn't have "My Sharona" back then but they did have "Good Girls Don't" and "That's What the Little Girls Do" completed and ready to go, along with a few other songs that were reworked into other songs later on in the band's career. that Fieger and Averre weren't writing for the bedroom, they were aiming at the charts, and if only one of the tunes here made it to Billboard, the others show that the duo had the chops to be more than a one-hit wonder.

The Knack was an American New Wave rock quartet based in Los Angeles that rose to fame with their first single, "My Sharona", an international number one hit in 1979. The Web's Largest Resource for. Music, Songs & Lyrics. A Member Of The STANDS4 Network.

Fieger had also known Bruce Gary (drums) for years before forming the Knack in 1978 with Prescott Niles (bass). Niles was the last to join, a week before the band's first show in June 1978. In the meantime, Fieger had been doubling on bass on a series of demos that the group had shopped to several record labels, all of which were rejected. Some of these songs later made up the band's debut album Get the Knack, and included "Good Girls Don't". 2012: Rock & Roll Is Good for You: The Fieger/Averre Demos. 1979: The Knack Live at Carnegie Hall (Laserdisc). 2001: Live from the Rock n Roll Funhouse (CD, DVD).
