Obsolete Machines (Variant Reworks) ‎(2xCDr, Album, Ltd). 照 Obsolete Machines, 2xLP, Album, RDS-LP1. Stunning in every sense of the word, changed my entire listening experience. As much as I adore the dub-techno movement and genre, no one producing this music has filled the void of Basic Channel & Rhythm & Sound with the exception of these two talents.

Obsolete Machines (Variant Reworks) ‎(2xCDr, Album, Ltd). The radius project has been absent since the final release in 2001, the first 12" appearing in 1996 (limited white label run of 100 copies pressed at Acme pressing in Canada) after revisiting these works we realized there was truly some magic here. This project was initially sent to Rod Modell & Mike Schommer shortly after they launched their brilliant deepchord label in 2001.

Obsolete Machines (Variant Reworks). Месяц релиза - любой - January February March April May June July August September October November December.

Conceptually, it is a sequel to 1995's Demanufacture. With the success of its fourth single, "Cars," a Gary Numan cover that featured Numan himself on vocals, Obsolete would break Fear Factory into the mainstream and remain their highest selling album.

Many of the songs featured in this project were initially sent to Rod Modell & Mike Schommer shortly after they launched their brilliant deepchord label in 2001.

Tracklist A1 – Soul Rotation (Unreleased Mix) A2 – Always Dreaming B – Culture C – Interpolation Tape (One) D – Interpolation Tape (Six). Direct downloads for TMF users. MsCamaraderie – Braindance. RanchaTek – Bring It Back.

RADIUS - Obsolete Machines. Echospace nuzzle your cochlea with a painstakingly restored demo of Steve Hitchell’s work as Radius, initially recorded live to tape between 1995-2000, now restored to gauzy bliss and repackaged with a bonus disc of CV313 reworks  . The fact that the highlight :::e c h o S P A C E live::: is now being commemorated as their new album-first live album to boot-admittedly moves me close to tears. Thank you so much to everyone who made this such an unforgettable night, as well as supported DPS over the years. To quote Resident Advisor

Lovely release, something I noticed aside from the quality of the tunes was the really excellent price point in the States for the record. Perhaps a result of some of the newer plants springing up? A trend I hope to see continue...

Stunning in every sense of the word, changed my entire listening experience. As much as I adore the dub-techno movement and genre, no one producing this music has filled the void of Basic Channel & Rhythm & Sound with the exception of these two talents. One of my personal favorites of all time, I truly hope there is another DeepChord presents EchoSpace album in the works as it changed my entire perception of this music forever. I love their solo productions but together, they have true, magic, I hope there is more to come from their unified productions!

listen to some Submersion.also, I believe cv313 has long been Steve's solo project or at least had minimum RM involvement.

Profoundly beautiful release from the EchoSpace camp, this release engages their sound in the sonic worlds I love the most, space, bass and a gorgeous sound palette to engage and get lost in. Blowing my mind one second at a time, my most beloved music I've ever experienced. Thank you EchoSpace!

I have to side with The Wire on this beautiful set: "Speaking of concealing brilliance in smoky space, here the principle is taken to far distant limits. Three tracks here are culled from Steve Hitchell’s cassette demos from the early 1990’s, led by the 16 minute “Ethersonic” which manages to be constantly shifting yet changeless, like the beating subterranean heart of a sleeping city; inhuman, incomprehensible, sublime in scale yet paradoxically comforting. Even by the standards of the Deepchord/Echospace axis, it’s a gorgeously enveloping embrace. The pleasure is prolonged by two equally long new remixes of the track by Hitchell and Rod Modell as cv313: they add watery sparkle and electric cracks, making new experiences that, while they can’t match the totalizing wonder of the original, stimulate other synapses. Of the two other old tracks, the distorting “Oscillation Range” in particular can teach supposedly lo-fi producers a thing or two about how much scope can be achieved with bare bones tech."

I know cv313 is Rod and Stephen, but does anyone know if Rod had input on sides C and D? Rod's sound on his new Deepchord releases has diverged greatly from the traditional echospace sound at this point.

I believe it's been Steve's solo project (or at least with minimum RM involvement) for a long time now.
Ffleg
cv313 is 95% Stephen only. Rod has minor influence on this project
RuTGamer
If I had to guess I'd say Stephen is remixing himself on this release.
Rexfire
CV313 are Rod Modell, Stephen Hitchell 4 more words word
Dandr
Not sure mate but both sides are stunningly beautiful, I'm sure Rod had some input but my guess is it's more Stephen's influence.
Little Devil
16 tracks on the CD and we get 5. Really good though.
X-MEN
Maybe there are more to follow, a second edition? An absolute gem of a release though.

One of my most listened to albums of late!! I can get enough of these dusty grooves & struggling to believe that some of these tracks are over 20 years old!Yet another gem of an album salvaged from the depths of the Echospace vaults...well done guys.Review from Bandcamp:An unreleased classic from the vaults emerges with beautiful reshapes by cv313 (recorded and reshaped from 2007-2016) This is where the sound of cv313 was realized, culled from cassette tapes recorded live (1995-2000) with nothing but analog/digital hardware, no computer in sight (excluding our Commodore 64 midi sequencer, which is still alive and well today). They were incredibly kind in saying it was the best demo they had ever heard and passed it on to Octal records for release, sadly, that didn't materialize and since then these masters have been collecting dust in our cassette rack for nearly 20 years now. We've spent months doing our best to restore the old tapes from our Tascam 688, an 8 track cassette recorder purchased and abused since 1992 and to our ears still sounds quite impressive even by modern standards. (that is of course, if you can get past the tape hiss) We've had nearly every component replaced and re-calibrated to bring this obsolete machine back to life, it's been a truly nostalgic experience re-visiting these masters. We truly hope you enjoy reliving these magical times of music, very inspired by all that was happening in those years, there was just something in the air, an undeniable energy, long may it live on...
