The Loneliness of the Long-Distance Runner" is a short story by Alan Sillitoe, published in 1959 as part of a short story collection of the same name. The work focuses on Smith, a poor Nottingham teenager from a dismal home in a working class area, who has bleak prospects in life and few interests beyond petty crime. The boy turns to long-distance running as a method of both emotional and physical escape from his situation. The story was adapted for a 1962 film of the same title.
Prolific New York-based trombonist Steve Swell projects moves between many interesting projects.
Trombone – Steve Swell. Solo Trombone Improvisations.
Беги, вперед и вперед, The loneliness of the long distance runner. Turn to look at who's on your heels, Повернись посмотреть, кто на хвосте, Way ahead, of the field, И впереди тебя на дистанции. The line is getting nearer, but do.
The Loneliness Of The Long Distance Improviser (Swell, 2015) features, as says subtitle, Solo Trombone Improvisations, Steve Swell on solo trombone. His fifteen autoproduced solo pieces feature frequent timbre changes. Recorded in june 2010, this album features 16 tracks, brief and long (among which the 24-minute title track), combining a mixture of ancient Chinese music, jazz fusion, Carnatic Classical music of South India and improvisations
This poem is simply an experience of the feelings a poet had while writing it. The feelings that the poet wants to mention are weaved within this given texture. The loss of imagination and emotion causes the loss of the poem itself. The result is that he begins to curse her. It is an interesting paradox and an inevitable paradox- that the sensitive artist can imagine and write volumes on the extremity and the mysteriousness of the love. But when the lover comes into his real life with her blood, flesh and bones he tends to turn his mind from his imagination. His lover’s appearance shatters his imagination so he disdains at her harshness of reality. The poet is cursing her because she suddenly comes into the room.
