The Best of The Moody Blues: 20th Century Masters – The Millennium Collection is a 2000 compilation album by The Moody Blues. Zoom is the twelfth studio album by British symphonic rock band Electric Light Orchestra, released on 12 June 2001 on Epic Records. It was the first official ELO album since 1986's Balance of Power. Balance of Power is the eleventh studio album by the Electric Light Orchestra released in 1986.
The Electric Light Orchestra were one of the biggest and most successful bands of the late 1970s, producing a massive string of hit singles and albums that almost any other band would envy. Their works have been cited as influences by such hip acts as Grandaddy and Super Furry Animals. Their frontman and leader Jeff Lynne has been the producer of choice for people like Paul McCartney, Tom Petty and George Harrison. Not just the track selections, but the whole album presentation is first class. The quality of the pressings is very good, and the labels of the two records are each a different color for easy identification. The jacket is very slick, the artwork incredible, and the whole package shouts quality. I won't critique the music itself; these cuts have been around a long time now, and you either love them or you don't, but if "Hold on Tight" and "Shine a Little Love" don't get you moving, nothing will.
Electric Light Orchestra discography. Below is the complete Electric Light Orchestra discography including imports, videos, and hit singles. ELO's back catalogue is unusual since their compilation albums far outweigh their studio output in number, owing to the large number of hit singles primarily written by Jeff Lynne.
Evil Woman remains one of ELO’s best-loved songs, a genuine 70s pop classic and the highlight of an album that includes several great songs (Strange Magic, Waterfall) and one outright turkey, the daft Down Home Town. On The Third Day. Although it bombed in the UK, ELO’s third album was a minor hit in America, where the English guys with the big fiddles were a major concert draw. Marc Bolan played lead guitar on this album’s big rock tune, Ma-Ma-Ma Belle, and to Lynne’s great delight, John Lennon raved about the album’s hit single Showdown, subsequently dubbing ELO son of Beatles. Loftily subtitled A Symphony By The Electric Light Orchestra, the group’s fourth album is described by Lynne as one of yer actual concept albums. The concept itself was somewhat vague. It’s about a dream world, said Lynne. But undoubtedly, Eldorado saw a big leap forward for ELO.
