In the revised versions, Gillett included a list of 390 tunes which he felt were essential and parallel to the story told in his book. My good friends Kingcake and Unkie Cliff have put together ALL of these songs, an exhaustive task to be sure. I will be sharing them as smaller volumes until we have them all posted. Like any list, there are songs which can be questioned and exclusions to be called into play - but overall it's a great chunk of American musical history.
