Into the Maelstrom is the fourth studio album by American ive rock band Bigelf. It is their first album since August 2008, their longest non-album gap, and the first since the departure of long time members Steve Frothingham and Ace Mark. They have since been replaced by guitarist Luis Maldonado and guest drummer Mike Portnoy of Dream Theater fame.
Tracks 1-8 recorded in 1973 at Fort Walton Beach, Florida. Tracks 9-10 recorded in 1980 live at "The Three Rivers Festival" in Fort Wayne, Indiana.
The EP is arranged in a way that songs go straight to your gut, even though they are, sometimes, very technical. Lyrics are about present and future, but in a very decadent and cyberpunk perspective: soon there will be a time when machines will take over everything, even our emotions and thought.
