Marion Worth was born in 1930 during the height of the depression. Her father, a railroad worker, taught her how to play piano. At the age of 10, she won a local talent show contest for five weeks straight. Initially, she was not interested in pursuing a career in the music business, wanting to become a nurse instead. Worth attended the Paul Hayne School, where she began her medical training. Worth accepted a job as a bookkeeper for a record company around the time she and her sister won another local talent contest. These events encouraged Worth to pursue a career in the music business. Marion soon parted ways with Columbia Records and signed with Decca Records where she recorded two songs that reached the top 40, "A Woman Needs Love" in 1967 and "Mama Sez" in 1968. Later years and death. Worth's recording success on the Country Music charts waned after 1968.

So too was Marion Worth, born Mary Ann Ward in Birmingham, Alabama on July 4, 1930. In the late 1950s she had her first recording session at Cherokee Records in Huntsville, Alabama where she turned out Are You Willing, Willie? Released as Cherokee 503, it reached 12 Country in October/November 1959 b/w This Heart Of Mine. Two minor entries then followed in late 1967 (A Woman Needs Love - 64 in November on Decca 32195 b/w I've Got That Sad And Lonely Feeling) and April 1968 (Mama Sez - 45 on Decca 32278 b/w Then I'll Be Over You. Quite an impressive run and you'd think there'd be at least one or two CD compilations covering those hits. But all we see is a flimsy m. 2010 K-Tel offering labelled Her Very Best which has one hit among three meagre tracks!

I see him there on the seashore I see him waving at me It's not the first time he's come back to his home by the sea When he gets tired of his new love he runs back to my door And it isn't long till I find him gone and I'm lonely once more. Oh devil woman oh oh devil woman Let him be don't take him from me devil woman.
