Band on the Run is the third studio album by Paul McCartney and Wings, released in December 1973. It was McCartney's fifth album after leaving the Beatles in April 1970. Although sales were modest initially, its commercial performance was aided by two hit singles – "Jet" and "Band on the Run" – such that it became the top-selling studio album of 1974 in the United Kingdom and Australia, in addition to revitalising McCartney's critical standing.
In 1975 and 1976 Paul McCartney and Wings undertook the epic Wings over the World tour, the largest scale tour they would ever undertake as a band. From this tour came both the legendary "Wings over America" triple live album and the concert film "Rockshow". Although filmed on this tour at the enormous Kingdome in Seattle, "Rockshow", originally a cut down version of the concert, was not premiered until November 1980 in New York and April 1981 in London. It was released on Betamax and later on laserdisc

Band on the Run (оригинал Paul McCartney). Банда в бегах (перевод Rust из Москвы). Stuck inside these four walls. В четырех стенах я. Sent inside forever.
Band on the Run finds McCartney walking a middle ground between autobiographical songwriting and subtle attempts to mythologize his own experience through the creation of a fantasy world of adventure - perhaps remotely inspired by his having recently written Live and Let Die. He does it by uniting the myth of the rock star and the outlaw, the original legendary figure on the run. Up until now, the critical assumption has been that McCartney’s lyrics mean little if anything, that he is a mere stylist, playing games with words and sounds. I’m surprised I like Band on the Run so much more than McCartney’s other solo albums because, superficially, it doesn’t seem so different from them.
Band on the Run is generally considered Paul McCartney's strongest post-Beatles effort. The album was also his most commercially successful-selling well and spawning two hit singles, the multi-part pop suite of the title track, and the roaring rocker "Jet". On these cuts, and elsewhere, McCartney's penchant for sophisticated, nuanced arrangements and irrepressibly catchy melodic hooks is up to the calibre he displayed in the Beatles, far surpassing the first two Wings releases Wildlife and Red Rose Speedway. This version of Band on the Run features the original album newly remastered at Abbey Road studios, along with a 16-page booklet presented in digipack packaging.
