Shuggie Otis (born Johnny Alexander Veliotes, J. November 30, 1953) is an American singer-songwriter, recording artist, and t. Otis's composition "Strawberry Letter 23" (as recorded by The Brothers Johnson) topped the Billboard R&B chart and reached of the Billboard Hot 100 chart in 1977. He also achieved commercial success with his 1974 single "Inspiration Information" (from the album of the same name), reaching on the R&B chart.

This beautiful Shuggie Otis album went largely overlooked at the time of its release in 1974. Which is a shame, because it's one of those albums that you hear new things in every time it's on the platter. Shuggie played every instrument here himself, giving us a look into his psyche: soothing, subtle, harmonious and elegantly funky. Some say the album is ahead of its time - so much so it would fit into the Trip Hop genre with ease
