In January 1974, Le Orme recorded their first live album, In concerto at the Teatro Brancaccio in Rome. Later in the year a further studio album, Contrappunti, followed. It also was successful, charting in the top ten, but failed to reach the lofty heights achieved by Felona e Sorona. In 1975 Neil Kempfer-Stocker's Cosmos imprint issued Beyond Leng, a largely instrumental compilation to introduce the band to a wider American audience. The band then headed to Los Angeles to record their next album. At the same time, they hired a guitarist, Tolo Marton, bringing the group to four members

It only makes sense that Le Orme would release a live album during their peak, as Yes and ELP had with their careers, only they released triple albums, and Le Orme stuck to a single album format. Although recorded in 1974, they harken back to the earlier, harder-edge sound of Collage, in fact, almost all of side two is exclusively material from Collage, except for one off Felona e Sorona, that being "Ritorno al Nulla". Only for completionists (0%). I can't really be overwhelming with this live album. The great "Ritorno Al Nulla" is of course brilliant (as it was on the studio album) but being too short to raise the average level of this "Le Orme In Concerto". It is rather strange that only one track comes from their latest album "Felona & Sorona". Their magnificent "Uomo Di Pezza" is completely forgotten as well. No need to say that this album is not a great representation of the work of this good Italian band.

The album Felona e Sorona had opened the doors to England, while at home in Italy they were one of the top live acts. Like almost every other live album from that era, In Concerto is flawed: the sound quality is bad - keyboard-led rock trios translate terribly on record - and the track selection questionable. Casual listeners turning to this live album in the hope of a best-of collection will be disappointed.
