In their place, the band multiplies the shoegaze-y atmosphere hinted towards earlier, and concentrates on texture. It’s an interesting combination of aesthetics, but ultimately fails because Pity Sex highlight all the wrong areas. Then again, perhaps my perceived flaccidness of Feast is only my expectations warily wobbling down (a tumbling crash would be too dramatic and dynamic a descriptor for the monotonous release). At the very least, the LP has a beautiful flow to it where each track blends nicely into one another, especially impressive given that it’s their debut. And while Honey Pot doesn’t hold a candle to previous standouts, its energy in the center of Feast livens up the record considerably.

Pity Sex straddles between emo and shoegaze from the dull somber lyrics and the distorted reptition in their guitars. In the end you have 10 songs full of young adult problems and clamor. May be a topic that's nothing new, but the ability to craft it in a confident way is what sets Pity Sex apart from contemporaries. 65. An album that seems to pair Punk and Shoegaze can come off as catchy and compelling but the vocals can get lost in the mix and the album offers little dynamically, yet it still stays dreamy.

Pity Sex are a four-piece indie rock/emo band from Ann Arbor, Michigan that began in 2011. Pity Sex was formed in 2011 by members Brennan (vocals/guitar) and Sean (drums), who had played in bands together before, and soon added Brandan (bass) to finalize the line-up that recorded the demo. The four-piece signed to Run For Cover and put out their debut full-length Feast Of Love in 2013. This band's sound is probably most defined by its huge influence from 90's indie/alt/emo bands. The emo influence is probably displayed most prominently on the demo/self-titled thing, and they progress into more indie/alt territory with each album.
