Following this is a beautifully conceived reading of the Septet in E-flat in Toscanini's own arrangement. In this case, there's more poetry and joy than his later 1950s NBC recording. The album is worth obtaining for the Septet performance alone. As for the Op. 92 A Major symphony, this is a bit less driven than the 1951 recording and as such reveals insights into the work which are compelling.
