A Christmas Record is an LP originally released in 1981 by ZE Records. It was recorded by various musicians from that label's roster, including Was (Not Was), August Darnell, Material, Suicide, Cristina, and The Waitresses, all performing original seasonal songs. In 2004, a further revised version was issued on CD, as ZE Xmas Record Reloaded 2004.

Various Artists, ‘A Christmas Record’. This album, originally released by ZE Records in 1981, is a collection of experimental, alternative, and new-wave takes on Christmas. This 2007 compilation (replacing 1982's It's Christmas Time Again, which collected the label's scattered Christmas singles for the first time) is at its strongest when it's uptempo and nasty – meaning you won't complain that both Albert King and Mack Rice do versions of "Santa Claus Wants Some Lovin'.

This album, while not meant for easy listening or general Christmas cheer, is a true gem amongst the zillions of schmaltzy holiday albums foisted upon us every year. It ranges from saracstic pop (I Wish You A Merry Christmas), to diabetes-inducing child showcases (Happy Birthday Jesus; Sleigh Bells, Reindeer And Snow), to bah-humbug sentiments (Here Comes Fatty Claus), to simply jaw-dropping urban black power sentiments (Santa Claus Is A Black Man), to spine-tingling theremin tunes (First Snowfall).
