The album kicks off with the brutal F(r)iend. Anders' vocals really take a turning point in this song by his deep growls. This song can be somewhat irritating to listeners who aren't a fan of growling vocals. It somewhat resembles Dawn of a New Day from Reroute to Remain. Also, the bonus track Discover Me Like Emptiness isn't that impressive either.

The album was criticized by longtime fans for its modern sound and the band further forsaking its original melodic death metal roots. However, the album was seen by many as a natural progression from Reroute to Remain and was critically praised in many areas of the press such as Metal Hammer and Kerrang!.
