Dre also fired some shots at his former . A group mate Eazy-E on the tracks Fuck Wit' Dre Day (And Everybody’s Celebratin') and Bitches Ain’t Shit. Many of the songs were demoed and created at Dr. Dre’s house in Calabasas and recorded at the SOLAR Records studio Dre & .

Here Dre established his patented G-funk sound: fat, blunted c beats, soulful backing vocals, and live instruments in the rolling basslines and whiny synths. What's impressive is that Dre crafts tighter singles than his inspiration, George Clinton - he's just as effortlessly funky, and he has a better feel for a hook, a knack that improbably landed gangsta rap on the pop charts. But none of The Chronic's legions of imitators were as rich in personality, and that's due in large part to Dre's monumental discovery, Snoop Doggy Dogg
This debut solo album from D. re titled The Chronic was released on December 15, 1992 by Death Row Records. Produced by Dr. Dre and Suge Knight.

Many have tried, and all have failed to make an impact like The Chronic, including Dr. Dre himself with his follow-up album 2001, which had great songs and great beats, (who could forget the classic line, "Smoke weed everyday!" from "The Next Episode"?) but never reached the level that his debut ever did.
