I think that Lefty did the definitive version of "Rough and Rowdy Ways," even better than Jimmie's. Lefty also did some wicked covers of "Blue Yodel & " as well as "Brakeman's Blues
I don't mind you're flirting with the strangers that you meet I don't mind the whistles that they give you on the street But holding you and kissing you when you belong to me I love you anyhow but can't trust you now farther than my eyes can see. Now maybe baby i'll forget the wrong you've done to me And we'll be together then the way we used to be But my believing in you now it will be hard to know It's not so much for what you did it's why that hurts me so. William Orville "Lefty" Frizzell (March 31, 1928 – July 19, 1975), was an American country music singer-songwriter and honky-tonk singer. He gained prominence in 1950 after two major hits, and throughout the decade was a very popular country performer. Frizzell remains the only country singer to have four songs that reached No. 1 on the Billboard country chart in one year (1951).

For country singer/songwriter Lefty Frizzell that song was "If You've Got the Money I've Got the Time. The song was recorded on Frizzell's first session for Columbia Records on July 25, 1950, and was the second of four songs recorded that day, the other three were "I Love You A Thousand Ways," "Shine, Shave, Shower (It's Saturday)" and "Cold Feet. As opposed to the ballad type of songs that Frizzell liked to write until then, the song was an up-tempo piece that foreshadowed the pure energy of country boogie that was related to rock 'n' roll. However, "If You've Got the Money I've Got the Time" was also a sophisticated tune that showcased Frizzell's superb way of phrasing lyrics. Frizzell has recalled the origin of the song in a conversation with disc jockey Hugh Cherry: "I was working in a nightclub in west Texas, in Big Spring to be exact, and then the juke box man came in.
