Taqwa (Arabic: تقوى‎ taqwā, taqwá ) is an Islamic term for being conscious and cognizant of God, of truth, of the rational reality, "piety, fear of God". It is often found in the Quran. Al-Muttaqin (Arabic: لِّلْمُتَّقِينَ‎ Al-Muttaqin) refers to those who practice taqwa, or in the words of Ibn Abbas - "believers who avoid Shirk with Allah and who work in His obedience. The Arabic word taqwa means "forbearance, fear and abstinence.

Xen is the debut album by Venezuelan electronic music producer Arca, released on November 3, 2014 via Mute. The two work in tandem on various projects while Ghersi has also been a co-producer for Björk and Kanye West Contents.

The title of the album is a reference to Ghersi's ‘feminine spirit’ as portrayed in the album artwork and videos. According to the artist, the designer Jesse Kanda asked "if I had a girl’s name when I was a kid, I told him that I have this image in my head when I listen to a song of mine that I really love or that I feel happy with.

Arca will release his debut album, Xen, on November 3. After a period spent darting around US underground staples like UNO NYC and Hippos in Tanks, Arca has settled on Mute as his record label. It marks a follow-up to last year’s &&&&& mixtape, and comes with artwork by regular Arca collaborator Jesse Kanda. Arca, of course, was one of several underground producers drafted in to work on Kanye West’s Yeezus, and also contributed production to Twigs’ LP1. Arca - Xen The tracks Alejandro Ghersi makes as Arca rarely cohere to normal ideas of structure or rhythm. His early Stretch releases for UNO made the human voice sound malleable and sickly. Then, of course, came Kanye West's Yeezus-where Ghersi could be heard in the evil, warped snarl of tracks like "I'm In It" and "Send It Up"-and his equally challenging work with FKA twigs. The squirming electronics of the 25-minute "&&&&&" felt like a response to all the attention that Yeezus kicked up, and Xen takes a similarly erratic path.
