Anima latina (Latin soul) is an album by the Italian singer-songwriter Lucio Battisti. It was released in December 1974 by Numero Uno. The album was arranged and produced by the lyricist Mogol and Battisti in its entirety, with performances by various semi-unknown musicians. It is considered one of Battisti's masterpieces for signalling a significant departure from his previous records. Anima latina was Italy's eighth best-selling album of 1975.

LP (12" album, 33 rpm), Import. Lucio Battisti Format: Vinyl. This is all you need to know. However, just a few words: This album is totally ahead of its time - at least for what was being recorded and produced in Italy in 1974. One track more interesting then the other. Battisti arranged it. I can just imagine Lucio's direction: "Play this trombone part like s. "Give me some more funk to the electric guitar on this part. No, don't give me the same standard drum beat here, make it stand out like you are producing a whole album based on the drums.
This song is by Lucio Battisti and appears on the album Anima Latina (1974) and on the compilation album Pensieri, Emozioni (1996).
Anima Latina is the most ambitious album of Lucio Battisti's career. Inspired by a trip to South America Battisti and Mogol undertook in early 1974, with this record they clearly intended to challenge every aspect of the mainstream Italian pop of which they were considered the very epitome. Anima Latina combines '70s progressive rock with Latin American music and some of the most cerebral Mogol lyrics to date.
Lucio Battisti - Anima Latina (7 min 39 sec ). Added by Andrea Cortese. This album is the last of Lucio Battisti's before a disco influence crept into his work for a few records, and so anyone looking for progressive pop might like to start here then go backwards a few albums (including the amazing Amore e Non Amore) rather than move forward from here. RPI fans of the less aggressive end of the country's output might well enjoy this album too, or basically anyone who believes themselves to be a fan of Italian music and are up for an album that reveals its wonders after repeated listens.
Anima Latina by Lucio Battisti" managed to break through this barrier. I don’t want to oversell the album based on that fact alone. Battisti comes from Italy, which is not exactly far away from the influence of English music and was himself heavily influenced by popular American and English artists of the 60s and 70s (Especially progressive rock, just listen to the ending of Anonimo ). While there are still a lot of familiar instruments and styles everyone has heard somewhere, Anima Latina really differentiates itself from western music.

Interesting Italian Art Pop album. Wasn’t particularly blown away on my first listen (maybe because I was listening to it late at night with a headache like an idiot), but there are a lot of elements in much of the music that artistically pops out to me (no pun intended). A lot of the synths on here are really well done along with the instrumentation.
