Froststalker

"Do U C The Light". Parts of the tune are nice, other parts are not so nice. The Good, the breakbeat is very nice in its non chopped up form. The rising and falling sub bass is really great, and the sample lifted from somewhere (I don't think its from Snap, more below) is very nice as well. The Bad, The intro perhaps lifted from Singing In The Rain, is full of pops. They didn't bother to de-pop the sound source and thus, its recorded right into the record itself. The YOLK Bish Bosh piano doesn't fit. It's in the wrong key with the rest of the track. The chopped up breakbeats do not sound good in this tune either, the break does more damage when its played straight. Lastly on the Bad is the track has no treble... I have to jack the treble knob way the heck up when I play this. As for the folks saying the vocal is from SNAP! "Do You See The Light", I ask... What Version? I've listened to all the versions and I do not hear the same version that HRT ripped off. One version has bad sounding house organs over the vocal, and the Ethno version has high hats over the vocal. I thought maybe there was an accapella version however I have yet to spot one and I've been searching the database for the past two hours looking. Either SNAP! has a release of said track that I can't find, SNAP! ripped the vocal themselves from somewhere else, or HRT IS SNAP which is very unlikely.... VERY. Also not specificly pertaining to this release but HRT in general... This past week I just found out about the drama with HRT's remaster/remixes of this record. They pulled a lot of BS with this record and it's since been banned for sale on Discogs which is unheard of. The more I find out about this release, the happier I am that I don't have a copy. Due to all that, and the original record being made so poorly, I've lowered my score from 5 stars to 3. It's very unlikely I'm buying any more HRT records ever again.
