Olde Guarde "ION" is the fifth full-length from Australian death metal enigma PORTAL. Anthony Rotolo Portal has been one of the most imaginative metal bands on the market for a while, splicing ominous darkness with pure unrelenting technical ability. This album is a wonderful capstone to their discography, capturing their unapologetically dire sounds from albums past with new ventures. I would like to call out the track 'Spores', a flurry of noise working in parallel with the song's title. Olde Guarde is easily their best.

Ion Stoian (born November 28, 1927) is a Romanian communist former politician who briefly served as the Minister of Foreign Affairs of Romania in 1989, during the rule of Nicolae Ceaușescu.
