Perhaps inspired by a wave of like-minded bands such as O'Death and seeking a retro fix a little more substantive than the previous decade's swing craze, the Figs' debut unpeels to reveal plenty of Carter Sisters-worthy harmonies and uptempo honky tonk and bluegrass. But its secret lies in a bit of attitude, via the occasional plugged-in electric blues solo-ing and sassy warnings not to "call me darlin'/don't call me dear/if you are not sincere.

A double album of 21 new songs from J. Maizlish Mole, singer/songwriter from Marseille Figs and The Jupiter Band. Created by. Figs of London. The album started life as a new Marseille Figs record, but with the Figs so far-flung it quickly evolved into more of a solo project – a full 21-song double album from the pen and heart of the Figs' frontman. Dorian McFarland and I are co-producing it, and the Figs are all on it, of course. But so are about a thousand other amazing people. So for those of you waiting for another Figs album, well this is where it's at. A lot of very brilliant people are involved in the project, including all the guys from The Jupiter Band – the house band from the monthly night I co-hosted throughout.

The Figs Posey is extending our sabbatical a little longer. We plan to return this Spring, with some new energy and maybe some new material. In and Out of Space, by The Figs Posey. from the album The Figs Posey.
