In 1982 he recorded his first album under his own name, and he had a stroke in 1983 that left him unable to play. This set was recorded in Germany with a pickup band that included Rob Van Den Broeck and Ali Haurand. Wilton "Bogey" Gaynair (11 January 1927 – 13 February 1995) was a Jamaican-born jazz musician, whose primary instrument was the tenor saxophone.

Wilton " Bogey " Gaynair ( born January 11, 1927 in Kingston, † 13 February 1995) was a Jamaican jazz musician whose main instrument was the tenor saxophone. Gaynair was formed on the Alpha Boys School in Kingston, where Joe Harriott, Harold McNair and Don Drummond were his classmates. In Germany he found most of the work and settled there. He first played in the quintet of George Maycock. Since 1964 he was a longtime member of the orchestra of Kurt Edelhagen. As a bandleader he took (on Africa Calling, among other things, with Shake Keane and Jeff Clyne ) during stays in England his first records in 1959 ( Blue Bogey ) and 1960.
