New Jersey is the fourth studio album by American hard rock band Bon Jovi, released on September 19, 1988 by Mercury Records. The album was produced by Bruce Fairbairn and recorded at Little Mountain Sound Studios in Vancouver, British Columbia, Canada. The album was the follow-up to the band's third album, Slippery When Wet, and reached number one on the Billboard 200 chart in its second week of release after debuting at number eight.
The lyrics had that typical pop twist - although they nominally expressed romantic commitment, sentiments such as "Lay Your Hands on Me" and "I'll Be There for You" worked equally well as a means for the band and its audience to reaffirm their affection for.
With ‘New Jersey’, Bon Jovi proved that whether they were writing stadium anthems or power ballads, they could create hits with ease. Published on. September 19, 2018. Even so, Bon Jovi believed that they were being underestimated by critics who said they’d fall by the wayside just as quickly as they shot to fame.
