Ralf Nowy biography RALF NOWY (1940-2007) was born in Berlin. By 18 he had, with fellow students, founded his first rock & roll band. He soon decided to make a serious commitment to music and so went to Stern Conservatory in Berlin where he extensively studied classical music, jazz, performing composition and arrangement. In 1973, he produced his first album under his name (RALF NOWY), which was a sort of German supergroup sometimes called the Nowy group (he had various very talented musicians working with him from the Munich music scene), and is an, I think, rather devilishly good, "LUCIFER'S DREAM". He then got more into disco, and released the single "ROCK 'N ROLL VAMPIRE/ GAZPACHO"" which is fun (it was an Italian "single" release). EARLY ENCOUNTERS" is more of an easy listening album which may have a similar effect on some as KENNY-G does on me.

Ralf Nowy is a lesser known jazz-rock saxophonist. On his first (solo) album Lucifer's Dream (Global 26015-8U) (1973), the Amon Duul II related musicians: Lothar Meid (bass), Keith Forsey (drums) and Alois Gromer (sitar) participated. Others involved were: Andy Marx (guitar), Paul Vincent (guitar), Don Anderson (keyboards) and Gary Unwin (bass). On the album they presented an interesting ethnic-flavoured jazz-rock fusion.

Born in 1940 in Berlin, Ralf Nowy's musical interest was first exposed to an audience during his school years, when he formed his first rock'n'roll band in the late fifties. After graduation from the Konservatorium, he joined the German jazz scene and also worked for the Saaerland radio station. His recording career began recording exploitation albums designed for dance parties, following the path opened in Germany by artists like Paul Nero (.
