Most of the songs were old, and not very good, with a lot of the same old cheap shots. Though Reed’s given folks reason to forget, every lyric on The Bells offers cause for recollection. This album is about love and dread - and redemption through a strange commingling of the two. To have come close to spiritual or physical death is ample reason to testify, but it’s love that brings both fathers and children, artist and audience, back from that cliff, and back from the gulf that can sometimes, in states of extreme pain, be mistaken for the blue empyrean ever.
The Bells is the ninth solo studio album by American musician Lou Reed, released in April 1979 by Arista Records. It is recorded in binaural sound. Several songs on the album are the product of a short-lived writing partnership between Reed and Nils Lofgren. Other of the team's work appeared on Nils' eponymous album of the same year
The Dells are one of the longest standing R&B groups; formed in 1952 in Chicago, Illinois, and still going as of 2006. Moreover, the membership of the band has stayed the same since 1960.
