Judy at Carnegie Hall is a two-record live recording of a concert by Judy Garland at Carnegie Hall in New York, with backing orchestra led by Mort Lindsey. This concert appearance, on the night of Sunday April 23, 1961, has been called "the greatest night in show business history". Garland's live performances were a big success at the time and her record company wanted to capture that energy onto a recording. The double album became a hit, both critically and commercially.

Judy At Carnegie Hall: Judy In Person. Judy's Carnegie Hall triumph is all the more miraculous when one considers the shaky months that proceeded it. In late 1959, Judy became deathly ill and was hospitalized for several months. Doctors told her she would never work again, and she would remain a semi-invalid for the rest of her life. By the middle of 1960, a remarkably revitalized Judy embarked on an extensive concert tour in Europe and America. The best-selling double album went on to win several Grammy Awards, including "Album Of The Year" and "Best Female Vocal Performance" for Judy Garland. After a thrilling Overture by Mort Lindsay and Orchestra, Judy opens the concert with "When You're Smiling. For the next two hours, Judy holds her captivated audience in the palm of her hands.
Judy Garland (born Frances Ethel Gumm; June 10, 1922 – June 22, 1969) was an American actress, singer and vaudevillian.
Recorded and released in 1961, Judy at Carnegie Hall is one of the greatest live albums of all time, and the greatest of Garland's career. There's true electricity in each song, and her renditions of "That's Entertainment," "The Man That Got Away," and "Come Rain or Come Shine" will give you goose bumps, they're so loaded with emotion. With relentless verve, Garland takes on her entire musical catalogue with astonishing aplomb. There is little sign of the decades of self-abuse which had left her frail by the early '60s.
