Wendell Ing began playing at age seven, after his father bought him a piano at an auction after much pleading. He cut his teeth as a pianist and church organist while in high school, then really learned how to play while going to law school in New York City, during the days of Bob Dylan and the Beatles. Through the years he has recorded four albums, all nominated for Na Hoku Hanohano awards. This is his fourth recording of original material. The others were Volcano Trails, Ohelo Berry Pie, and Light years Away. Composer Wendell Ing was raised as a classical pianist, then began playing in bands in the early 70's, notably SMALL TIME LEROY, a blues band out of Brooklyn; ILLUSION, a folk rock group in Honolulu which made famous his environmental protest song "The Lake"; and Hawaiian pop group CECILIO & KAPONO (who recorded Ing's "Easy On My Mind").

Happy Trails is the second album of the American band Quicksilver Messenger Service. Most of the album was recorded from two performances at the Fillmore East and Fillmore West, although it is not clear which parts were recorded at which Fillmore. The first side of the album consists entirely of a live performance of Bo Diddley's song, "Who Do You Love?"
