A subdural hematoma (SDH) is a type of hematoma-usually associated with traumatic brain injury-in which blood gathers between the inner layer of the dura mater and the arachnoid mater. It usually results from tears in bridging veins that cross the subdural space. Subdural hematomas may cause an increase in intracranial pressure (ICP), which in turn can cause compression of and damage to delicate brain tissue. Acute subdural hematomas are often life-threatening.

Acute subdural hemorrhages usually present in the setting of head trauma. This is especially the case in young patients, where they commonly co-exist with cerebral contusions. anticoagulation medication, thrombocytopenia) or structural abnormality (. dural arteriovenous fistula). The classic appearance of an acute subdural hematoma is a crescent-shaped homogeneously hyperdense extra-axial collection that spreads diffusely over the affected hemisphere. As the clot starts to retract the density increases typically to 50-60 HU and is thus hyperdense relative to the cortex 4.
Traumatic acute arterial subdural hematomas are rare and are associated with a high mortality rate. The authors report a case in which the initial computed tomographic (CT) scan examination failed to reveal a hematoma. Within the subsequent 4 hours, while recovering from anesthesia given so that hemostasis of bleeding soft tissue injuries could be obtained, the patient suddenly developed bilaterally dilated pupils, both nonreactive to light. A repeat CT scan then revealed large subdural and intracerebral hematomas.
The present report describes an acute subdural hematoma (ASDH) associated with subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH), due to ruptured cortical aneurysm. Tumor resection was performed in 7 patients with a cystic tumor after neuroendoscopic biopsy and histological findings were identical in 7. % of them. Similarly, high grade glioma was most frequently diagnosed in patients with intra or paraventricular tumors, followed by tumors originating from pineal region tissues. Diagnostic sample was obtained from 9. % of patients.

This model is not directly applicable to extraaxial hemorrhages, and acute spinal subdural hematomas are typically of low signal intensity on T2-weighted spin-echo and T2 -weighted gradient-echo sequences (4) and are frequently of heterogeneous T2 signal intensity (3). BACKGROUND Existing data on outcomes following subdural hematoma have provided limited information. CONCLUSION This large cohort of patients with acute traumatic subdural hematoma demonstrated a lower mortality rate than those of previous reports, including among patients requiring surgical evacuation (J Trauma Acute Care Surg. Thirdly, chronic subdural hematoma could be the mediator rather than a consequence of subdural invasion. A coagulation homeostasis may become further impaired after non-surgical cancer therapy, especially after preoperative irradiation, which produces lesions precipitating both bleeding and thrombosis. If both are found, the prognosis is likely to be dismal.
