Time Out is a studio album by the American jazz group the Dave Brubeck Quartet, released in 1959 on Columbia Records. Recorded at Columbia's 30th Street Studio in New York City, it is based upon the use of time signatures that were unusual for jazz such as 98, 64 and 54. The album is a subtle blend of cool and West Coast jazz. It peaked at No. 2 on the Billboard pop albums chart, and has been certified platinum by the RIAA.

First issue with red '360 sound' labels and black lettering with arrows downmost on the labels.

Once again, The Dave Brubeck Quartet would present us another creative and enduring Time Signature in 1963 where the astonishing Countdown Time In Outer Space left off as this album took an interesting, but surreal insight in- to the experiences and daily life that had took place in the early-1960’s. Time Changes not only showcases another round of amazing music passages from the pen of Brubeck himself, but also briefly focuses on the fears and hopes of from this part of the decade in a well-structured that’s performed with first rate improvisational skills and up-to-date endeavor. Another great album matching the Brubeck Quartet with a symphony orchestra. As usual, Brubeck's compositions featured in the CD demonostrate his creative genious. The sound quality is very good, but it has some distortion in the high frequencies as is typical for CD's of this vintage.

For this entry in Dave Brubeck's series of Time albums, his Quartet with altoist Paul Desmond performs "Elementals" with an orchestra and plays five briefer originals including four that have unusual time signatures; "World's Fair" is in 13/4 time. It's not an essential purchase but a good example of Dave Brubeck's music.

The Dave Brubeck Quartet is a jazz album released by The Dave Brubeck Quartet in several iterations between 1952 and 1962. The album was first released in 1952, on the Fantasy Records label, as Fantasy 10" LP 3-7. The tracks were recorded in September 1952 at the "Surf Club" in Hollywood, California. On the album Time Out, Brubeck used a different time signature for each track, which was very unusual. In Brubeck's interview with Zollo, he said: "The album came out but the sales people, they have formulas that are unwritten laws about what's going to work, what's going to sell. And my album couldn't have worked because it's all originals. They said you should never put out all originals, you have to put in some standards and some show tunes. Well, they were wrong It reached (for 3 weeks) on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Tracks chart. Mr. Brubeck (1920 - 2012).
