Breed Obsession is the third studio album by Australian rock band Gyroscope, produced by Dave Eringa and released through Warner Music on 8 March 2008. The album was recorded, mixed and produced in the United Kingdom. It was the second time Gyroscope had headed overseas to record, after working in Los Angeles on their previous album Are You Involved?, in 2005.

On their third full-length, Australian quartet Gyroscope finally shake off their always tenuous connection to punk and reveal themselves to be a mainstream pop/rock band with few musical aspirations further than a handful of FM radio hits. Breed Obsession gets them that far - opening track "Snakeskin" was their biggest single yet in their native land - but at strong risk of permanently disillusioning a fairly large subset of their original fan base.

The album isn’t so much a step forward as it is a manic stagedive one may see at one of their shows. This is an above-par rock album that isn’t afraid to take risks and break any presumption of being stuck in one genre, as too many of their contemporaries appear to be. A newfound ambition is present on the record, with the band broadening horizons in a fashion similar to that of the band’s last record, Are You Involved". The album features some of their softest and most introspective work- the heart-on-sleeve tribute to coming home, Australia, is an example of this
