Benefactor is the second studio album by American new wave band Romeo Void, released in 1982. It was released on CD in 2006 by Wounded Bird Records, with their Never Say Never EP as four bonus tracks. You could hardly attend a Steve Bicknell gig anno 2001-2002, and not witness at least two out of the total four tracks here getting played out. Sure, I liked the first Life EP a whole lot more, but this one was undeniably the bigger hit. Picture the tribal progression of Ben Sims' Theory label, matched with Oliver Ho's obsessive use of the human voice as a vital ingredient in techno music (something he would fanatically pursue on his own Meta imprint), and then top it all off with the compressed, restrained Cosmic sound. The end result being - LOST.This one might not be as appealing as plenty other Ho releases from way back when, but those of you trying to ID some ancient Lost tunes circa the turn of the millennium, start here, as this was canned weekend in weekend out...
