More Scared of You than You Are of Me received widespread acclaim from music critics upon release. On Metacritic, it received an average critical score of 87 out of 100, indicating "Universal Acclaim".

The anguish is extremely subtle, and without a solid grasp of first world problems, most of the lines will go over a typical listeners head.
