Weather Diaries is the fifth studio album by English rock band, Ride. The album was released on 16 June 2017, and is the first Ride album since 1996's Tarantula. The album was produced by English DJ Erol Alkan and mixed by long-time Ride collaborator Alan Moulder. The album was supported by two singles: "Charm Assault", released on 21 February 2017, and "Home Is a Feeling" released the next day.

That makes Weather Diaries, the first album by Ride since they returned to the live scene in 2015, a rarity. It’s new but also different for Ride, with occasional moments of retrospection-like the harmonies that introduce Charm Assault or the kaleidoscopic chorus to All I Want. Ride mostly sounds like another beast on Weather Diaries-one that, for better or worse, exists firmly in the present. Ride reformed in 2014 for gigs to celebrate their key shoegaze album, 1990’s Nowhere. When it came to discussing their future, talk of new music was vague, but when the first two post-reformation tracks - "Charm Assault" and "Home is a Feeling" - were unveiled earlier this year, they showed a band revitalised  . For Ride to produce such a strong album is a wonderful thing. To compare this to their first two albums is silly - bands and entire genres were formed off the back of those records - but does Weather Diaries sit up there with them? Absolutely.

Ride's first album in over twenty years, Weather Diaries, will be released June 16th via Wichita Recordings. The album was produced by legendary DJ, producer and remixer Erol Alkan, and is packed with all the classic elements that made Ride one of the defining bands of the early 90s. Trembling distortion, beautiful harmonies, pounding rhythms, shimmering soundscapes and great songwriting all combine to make an album thats ambitious in scope, timeless and thoroughly addictive.
