Carmen Cavallaro (May 6, 1913 – October 12, 1989) was an American pianist. He established himself as one of the most accomplished and admired light music pianists of his generation. Carmen Cavallaro was born in New York City. Known as the Poet of the Piano, he showed a gift for music from age three, picking out tunes on a toy piano. His parents were encouraged to develop the child’s musical talents and he studied classical piano in the United States.
Breakfast at Tiffany's is a 1961 American romantic comedy film directed by Blake Edwards and written by George Axelrod, loosely based on Truman Capote's 1958 novella of the same name. Starring Audrey Hepburn and George Peppard, and featuring Patricia Neal, Buddy Ebsen, Martin Balsam, and Mickey Rooney. The film was initially released on October 5, 1961 by Paramount Pictures.
Carmen Cavallaro is a genius on the ivory. The additional selections to the soundtrack are gorgeous. This is the re-release of a memorable soundtrack recording of the Columbia biopic about the gifted pianist and superlative bandleader, Eddy Duchin, who had evolved a distinctive appealing sophisticated sound. His tragic early death at the age of 41 robbed us of his wonderful talent. This CD contains two complete albums by the pianist, Carmen Cavallaro, a musical force in his own rite. After the initial release of the original soundtrack album, Cavallaro released a personal tribute album, "Eddy Duchin Remembered".
Carmen Cavallero, nicknamed "The Poet of the Piano," influenced Liberace with his flashy style of playing that applied the virtuosity and complexity of classical music to popular songs. He charted several hit singles in the '40s and '50s, but enjoyed his greatest commercial success tickling the ivories for Tyrone Power in the 1956 biopic The Eddy Duchin Story, starring Power as Duchin.
Guests are Carmen Cavallaro, Carmen Miranda and The Mills Brothers. Buffy Dee. Buffy Dee, born Anthony DeSantolo (1923–1995), was an Italian-American actor and musician. Buffy Dee suffered from Polio as a child and spent a short portion of his life in wheelchair. Although he recovered, he was left with a slight limp. He went to school for Law and finally finished his degree at the University of Miami. He married Eleanor Korn. He did not have any children. Musician Peter Duchin, whose relationship with his father is a major subject of the film, has written very negatively about the script, saying there was too much unnecessary fictionalization of his parents' lives and deaths. The Time, the Place and the Girl (1946 film). The Time, the Place and the Girl is a 1946 American musical film directed by David Butler.
