Mutatis mutandis is a Medieval Latin phrase meaning "having changed what needs to be changed" or "once the necessary changes have been made". It remains unnaturalized in English and is therefore usually italicized in writing. It is used in many countries to acknowledge that a comparison being made requires certain obvious alterations, which are left unstated. It is not to be confused with the similar ceteris paribus, which excludes any changes other than those explicitly mentioned
Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis) is the first album by Bill Laswell's ever-changing "supergroup" Praxis. The album was released in 1992 and features Buckethead on guitar, Bootsy Collins on bass and vocals, Brain on drums, Bernie Worrell on keyboards and DJ AF Next Man Flip on turntables and mixer. Transmutation features a wide range of musical styles, all mixed together to make a very diverse and unique album . Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis) (1992). A Taste of Mutation (1992). Apart from an early experimental 12" that has little to do with the later records, Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis) was the first release of producer Bill Laswell's Praxis project, which he conceived and constructed around mystery guitar virtuoso Buckethead
This album- Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis)- was Praxis' first and considered by many to be their best. The songs oftentimes change genre mid-song which makes for a riveting rollercoaster of a listen- for example, Crash Victim/Black Science Navigator goes from hard rock to turntables so suddenly that you'll wonder if it's the same song, and opener Blast/War Machine Dub switches from thrash metal to ambience halfway through. This is still the same song"!" This is one of the more popular songs from the album, and for good reason- it's excellent. Animal Behavior is another popular song from the album- it was the single from the album and the only single that Praxis has ever released. It's the only song with vocals on the whole album which are performed by Bootsy Collins and are sung in a spoken word-type format kind of.

Transmutation (Mutatis Mutandis). This is my first Praxis album and I'm definitely going to get the others soon. The best way to describe it would be a trail mix of everything that makes BucketHead's music what it is. I'm sorry if I'm not mentioning the other artists as much as him- I respect them all as much as Big B. All of these guys rock and deserve recognition.
