Jimmy Clanton (born September 2, 1938) is an American singer who became known as the "swamp pop R&B teenage idol". His band recorded a hit song "Just A Dream" which Clanton had written in 1958 for the Ace Records label. It reached number four on the Billboard chart and sold a million copies. Clanton performed on Dick Clark's American Bandstand and toured with popular artists like Fats Domino, Jerry Lee Lewis and the Platters.

One might think from the title that this 15-track disc largely duplicates Music Club's "best-of" anthology This Is Jimmy Clanton. Actually, though, only five tracks appear on both compilations, so this is a worthy supplement to This Is Jimmy Clanton if you want to hear more from the vocalist. Jimmy Clanton was born 9/2/40 in Baton Rogue,Louisiana. Starred in the 1958 movie "Go Johnny G. Charted his first hit single on 7/21/58 with his back up group the Rockets. Just A Dream" topped out at on the Billboard charts for 15 weeks,and conquered the R&B charts at for a week. Earning instant respect with his first hit, Clanton released "A Letter to An Angel" which hit on the top 40 chart just 4 months after his first hit. The flip side of his Ace label also charted, rising to a position. Clanton seemed to span the years between 12 & 20. His music spoke knowingly and sympathetically of that mystical state of being a teenager.
