Tori Amos is an American pianist and singer-songwriter whose musical career began in 1980, at the age of seventeen, when she and her brother co-wrote the song "Baltimore". The song was selected as the winning song in a contest for the Baltimore Orioles and was recorded and pressed locally as a 7" single

Tori Amos, in her early days, understood the EP. Her first EP, Winter, whetted the public's appetite for Little Earthquakes, her solo debut (she's previously been the lead singer of a failed hair metal group called Y Kant Tori Read). Following the release and blanket critical acclaim of that album, she put out an epilogue of sorts in the Crucify EP. You'd need to be fairly braindead to have not realised that this EP is covers-heavy. One, in particular, caused a bit of a stir.

AMOS, TORI - CRUCIFY (UK 4 TRACK) East West. Crucify by Tori Amos East West. Sort: Recent best-seller Results cached. Tori amos crucify ep cassette w/ "Smells like teen spirit" nirvana cover. It's far from the best track on the album but lyrically it draws a line from the very beginning. Tori puts us on notice early that she has much to say and starts so colorfully with "got enough guilt to start my own religion. She adds some nice vocal backings to her main lines which bring a richness to an otherwise modest track.

Crucify is a five-song EP that builds upon the success of Little Earthquakes. Most notable among the songs is her voice/piano reading of Nirvana's "Smells Like Teen Spirit," showing what a fine songwriter Kurt Cobain is; the title song (a different mix than the version on Earthquakes) and her versions of the Rolling Stones' "Angie" and Led Zeppelin's "Thank You" are equally noteworthy.
