John Balance (first name also spelled Jhon and Jhonn); a pseudonym for Geoffrey Laurence Burton, later Geoff(rey) or Geff Rushton (his stepfather's last name) (16 February 1962 – 13 November 2004), was an English musician, poet and a co-founder of the experimental music group Coil, in collaboration with his partner Peter 'Sleazy' Christopherson. wrote lyrics, album cover features sleeve notes by Balance dating from 1983. One sided dubplate of the track 'John Balance Enters Valhalla' from the unreleased four track 12", 'Semi-Legal On The Edge Of Culture' which was scheduled for release on the Castles In Space label. Included on the release would have been the full version of the track 'Drugs' (20:01) which appears on the Maxi 12" in its much shorter 7" version of 4:33.
