Living in the Past is a double album quasi-compilation collection by Jethro Tull, which contains album tracks, out-takes, the "Life's a Long Song" EP, and all of their non-LP singles except for "Sunshine Day"/"Aeroplane" (1968), "One for John Gee" (b-side of "A Song for Jeffrey", 1968), "17" (b-side of "Sweet Dream", 1969) and the original version of "Teacher" that appeared in the UK as the b-side of "The Witch's Promise" in 1969 (the re-recorded 1970 one that was released on the American versio.

Throughout Dream, she chases an all-American teen-pop sound that’s older than the Hollywood Hills. One of her best songs, The One That Got Away, sets the scene: Summer after high school, when we first met/We’d make out in your Mustang to Radiohead. From there, she just piles on the sun-drenched drama. Teenage Dream is the kind of pool-party-pop gem that Gwen Stefani used to crank out on the regular, full of SoCal ambience and disco beats. It’s miles ahead of Perry’s breakthrough disc, One of the Boys, with her clever songwriting boosted by top-dollar pros: Dr. Luke, Max Martin, Tricky Stewart, Stargate.

So this album is oozing with bright, splashy creative flourishes in two seemingly contradictory directions that somehow come together as a valid whole.
