Energy is a miracle of alchemy - Jeremy Steig transforms his flute from the ethereal to the elemental, forging a heavy, deeply funky jazz-rock record that defies gravity. Paired with keyboardist Jan Hammer, bassists Gene Perla and Eddie Gomez, and drummer Don Alias, Steig creates Technicolor grooves that float like butterflies and sting like bees.

Jeremy Steig (September 23, 1942 – April 13, 2016) was an American jazz flutist. Steig was born in Manhattan, the son of New Yorker cartoonist William Steig and Elizabeth (Mead) Steig, head of the fine arts department at Lesley College. Steig was a maternal nephew of Margaret Mead and Leo Rosten, and was also the cousin of Mary Catherine Bateson
Disc one is the original album, while disc two consists of out-takes from the same sessions. The labels on both discs show only the words "Jeremy Steig", omitting both titles. Oddly, the labels on the discs differ: Disc one has "Groove Merchant" in large multi-coloured letters, while disc two only shows the Groove Merchant logo.
Fusion (Jeremy Steig album).
Flautist Jeremy Steig experimented with jazz in his band Jeremy & the Satyrs with vibraphonist Mike Mainieri. The band blends fusion-style guitar solos and syncopated odd-metered drumming with the heaviness of metal. Tech-prog-fusion metal band Aghora formed in 1995 and released their first album, self-titled Aghora, recorded in 1999 with Sean Malone and Sean Reinert, both former members of Cynic.
