Accelerator is the seventh studio album by Royal Trux. It was originally released on Drag City in 1998. It peaked at number 32 on the UK Independent Albums Chart.
Throughout the 1990s, Royal Trux sounded like they were always together but always unraveling, too. Creative and romantic partners at the time, Herrema and Hagerty belonged to no particular city or scene beyond their own self-contained upside-down universe, where sleazy rock was rendered avant-garde and vice versa. Shortly after releasing their most congenial, conventional album, 2000’s Pound for Pound, the partnership collapsed, spurred in part by tough-love interventions for a relapsing Herrema.

The band's first collection of original songs in nearly two decades. Royal Trux returned in 2017 with Platinum Tips + Ice Cream, which featured live and unrehearsed versions of past Royal Trux classics. This was followed up last year with two new, original songs, Every Day Swan and Get Used to This. Now, the veteran alt-rock outfit has announced the release of a new full-length album called White Stuff, set for a March 1st release via Fat Possum. White Stuff marks the proper follow-up to 2000’s Pound for Pound, which came out just months before Royal Trux took a 14-year break.

Royal Trux was an American alternative rock band from 1987 to 2001, founded by Neil Hagerty (vocals, guitar) and Jennifer Herrema (vocals). While still a teenager, Hagerty joined Washington DC garage punk band Pussy Galore, led by Jon Spencer, and subsequently relocated to New York. During his time in Pussy Galore, Hagerty convinced his bandmates to release a cassette-only remake of the entire Rolling Stones album Exile on Main Street.
Royal Trux have confirmed details of their first album of all-new material since 2000's Pound for Pound. Entitled White Stuff, the album will be released via Fat Possum, the label with which the duo signed last year following their reunion. Above, you can hear the album's title track. Nothing has changed within the Truxian universe we created for ourselves as teenagers; because Trux is and will always be our way of life whether living it together or separate," says Jennifer Herrema. This is no hobby rock kick.
