Gypsies, Tramps And Thieves". I was born in the wagon of a travellin' show My mama used to dance for the money they'd throw Papa would do whatever he could Preach a little gospel, sell a couple bottles of Doctor Good. Gypsys, tramps, and thieves We'd hear it from the people of the town They'd call us Gypsys, tramps, and thieves But every night all the men would come around And lay their money down. I never had schoolin' but he taught me well With his smooth southern style Three months later I'm a gal in trouble And I haven't seen him for a while, uh-huh I haven't seen him for a while, uh-huh.
Chér (eventually reissued under the title Gypsys, Tramps & Thieves) is the seventh studio album by American singer-actress Cher, released in September 1971 by Kapp Records. For this album, Cher left her husband Sonny Bono to produce the album, and for the first time she collaborated with Snuff Garrett and with Al Capps for the arrangements. The album was retitled after the success of the single of the same name.
Cover issues aside, this is a good album with some great moments, among them a career highlight in the e opening track, "The Way of Love. The Stillman/Dieval tune was originally a British hit for Kathy Kirby, and both Cher and Kirby drove the song right by the censors. The song is either about a woman expressing her love for another woman, or a woman saying au revoir to a gay male she loved - in either case this is not a mother to daughter heart-to-heart: "What will you do/When he sets you free/Just the way that you/Said good-bye to m.
They'd call us Gypsys, tramps, and thieves. But every night all the men would come around. And lay their money down. Picked up a boy just south of Mobile. I never had schoolin' but he taught me well. With his smooth southern style. Three months later I'm a gal in trouble. And I haven't seen him for a while, uh-huh.
He’ll Never Know Lyrics. They go off and leave me behind They have so many words to find I run to catch a glimpse of them Just walking in the sun Knowing they'll be mine again When the evening has begun And when I see them hand in hand The boy who walks beside the man I pray that I will always have the world That. I have found The husband and the son That I built my life around. He'll never know of that night long ago He'll never know it's locked in my mind No he'll never know From the feelings I show He'll never know His son is only mine
