Cinéma vérité is a style of documentary filmmaking, invented by Jean Rouch, inspired by Dziga Vertov's theory about Kino-Pravda. It combines improvisation with the use of the camera to unveil truth or highlight subjects hidden behind crude reality. It is sometimes called observational cinema, if understood as pure direct cinema: mainly without a narrator's voice-over. There are subtle, yet important, differences among terms expressing similar concepts.

Postcards is a dream pop trio formed in 2012 in Beirut, Lebanon. Their music is defined by hushed vocals floating over expansive sonic spaces that shift between harsh noise and ambient soundscapes. The album’s lyrics reveal a young woman caught between hope and despair, and the music complements that dichotomy with instrumentation that nods to dream pop, noise rock, shoegaze and jangle pop.
