Robert Thomas Velline (April 30, 1943 – October 24, 2016), known professionally as Bobby Vee, was an American singer, songwriter and musician who was a teen idol in the early 1960s and also appeared in films. According to Billboard magazine, he had thirty-eight Hot 100 chart hits, ten of which reached the Top 20. He had six gold singles in his career.

Bobby Vee's Golden Greats was the first compilation of the singer's hits, assembled and released in late 1962, in time for Christmas of that year, at a point when he fairly ruled the charts and his records were thoroughly representative of what was happening in music.

I had some other CDs of Bobbys, but thought the Golden Greats would be fun to play during our reunion. I was right!! And now, just a few weeks later Bobby passed away.
