Roberto Carlos Braga (Portuguese pronunciation: ; born April 19, 1941) is a Brazilian singer-songwriter, also known as King of Latin Music or simply The King. Most of his songs are written in partnership with his friend, singer and songwriter Erasmo Carlos. Roberto Carlos has sold over 140 million albums around the world.
Roberto Carlos is a Brazilian footballer considered to be one of the best left backs to have ever played the game. Roberto Carlos, released in December 1966, went right to number one in the second week (remaining there until April 1967), and sold 300,000 copies in less than a year. In the '80s, Carlos also started to record in English and French (he had already recorded albums in Spanish, Italian, and, naturally, Portuguese), having won the Globo de Cristal trophy, awarded by CBS to Brazilian artists who sell more than five million copies outside Brazil.
