Silent Waters is the eighth studio album by Finnish heavy metal band Amorphis. The lyrics are English translations of Finnish poems written by poet Pekka Kainulainen, who wrote them based on the character of Lemminkäinen in the Kalevala. In February 2008, the record was certified gold in Finland, having sold over 15,000 units.

Silent Waters is one of those albums whose songs are very consistent and go perfectly together yet, once one listens to the album sufficiently to become familiar with it, no two songs are alike. Title aside, Amorphis are definitely not silent. This album takes everything that was good about "Eclipse" and cranks it up a notch, improving on an already solid formula.

Finland's Amorphis started testing the veracity of that age-old maxim in 2005, when their Eclipse album interrupted years of ruthless genre-hopping evolution, took stock of a bevy of styles from all eras of the group's long career, and stewed them into a single, mostly satisfying mélange.
