Lil' Jazzy Jay & Cool Supreme - B-Boys Style album flac

This is one of those records thats definitely a classic, I heard a some new group rhyming on this beat on a joint played on Dj Premiers show, been looking for this record this really defines the the sound of hip hop to me.

This is a classic piece of mid-80's Hip Hop on wax, it is one of those records that has become an underground favourite and has become very collectable as it is reasonably rare. Although it is a straight up Hip Hop record, it has an electro-funk vibe because of the great use of synths on this, great bassline, a melodic synth riff and synth strings that build in just the right places to build the track nicely. There is a bit of vocoder thrown in here and there for good measure, and a great catchy vocoder hook repeating 'B Boys', it sounds like it is based on something else but I can't place it. Some like to call these types of records electro-rap, another good example being Man Parrish's 'Boogie Down Bronx', but whatever, you get the picture. The MC is good on this too, he has a good voice and delivery, typical NYC sounding MC who raps about what it's like to live the life of a 'B-Boy', great stuff. There is some nice scratching at the end of this track, which builds up really well at the end with the synths and the MC adding to the mix. The 12" also includes a really good dub mix, taking the best elements of the vocal and playing about with them. Overall this is a quality piece of 1985 Hip Hop action, if your a fan of tracks such as 'Boogie Down Bronx' (Man Parrish), 'Needle to the Grrove' (Mantronix), 'Feel the Force' (G Force), 'Get Tough' (CDIII) then you should really like this.
