Zellers Inc. was a major Canadian chain discount department retailer based in Brampton, Ontario. It was founded in 1931, and was acquired by Hudson's Bay Company (HBC) in 1978. A series of acquisitions and expansions allowed Zellers to reach its peak in the 1990s, with 350 stores across the country in 1999. However, fierce competition by Walmart Canada and an inability to adjust to the increasingly volatile retailing industry resulted in Zellers losing significant ground in the 2000s.

I remember when I got into Gorillaz, I had probably just turned 12 and saw their CD in Zellers. The self titled album had that lovely picture of them on the front and I thought, I have to have this it looks so cool! Here I am nearly 16 years later and I still love these funky characters! Figured I would do it similar to my typical style of thick lines and flat colour as homage to phase one/two, which gave me so much inspiration as a child! psykoredhead16.
