The Prophesy And The Death Of Taras Bulba. 2-4. The Fiddlers Child. Composed By – Leoš Janáček.
Janáček's "Glagolitic Mass" was premiered in 1927, a year after its completion. It's not a simple work, reflecting the mastery of the 72-year-old composer. Shortly before his death, Jiří Bělohlávek recorded it along with three other works. With his many years of experience as a conductor, especially of works from his homeland, he gives this album a refined "Czech" tone. The soloists and choir follow his lead closely. The result is an enthralling Janáček album which demands to be listened to closely - your efforts will certainly be rewarded. Janáček: Glagolitic Mass; Taras Bulba; Sinfonietta; The Fiddler’s Child. Bělohlávek, Czech Philharmonic Orchestra, Martiník.
August 2018 marks 90 years since Janáček’s death in 1928. This album commemorates the great Czech composer with these informed recordings by the Czech conductor and orchestra. This album features ‘The Fiddler’s Child’ – a new addition to the Decca catalogue. Cloud Jiri Belohlavek - Janacek Glagolitic Mass. rar - 47. Janáček: Glagolitic Mass; Sinfonietta; Taras Bulba; The Fiddler's Child. This double-CD set from Decca of Leos Janáček's music combines recordings from various sessions, although all were made at the Rudolfinium in Prague, a hall that Bělohlávek knew inside and out. There's nothing here to quite match Bělohlávek's shattering Ma Vlast with the Czech Philharmonic, also issued by Decca in 2018, and at some points in the symphonic poem Taras Bulba, based on Gogol's novel, the Czech Philharmonic strings lack their usual sheen. A bonus is the early and underexposed tone poem The Fiddler's child (1912), where you can almost sense Janáček straining to depart from Dvorák's example.
Taras Bulba is a rhapsody for orchestra by the Czech composer Leoš Janáček. It was composed between 1915 and 1918 and is one of the most famous of Janáček's works. It is based on the novel by Nikolai Gogol. The first version of the work was finished on 2 July 1915, but Janáček later revised it and made substantial changes. The second, almost complete, version was finished on 29 March 1918. Taras Bulba was premiered at the National Theatre in Brno on 9 October 1921, conducted by František Neumann
